ICPC Arraigns Medical Doctor for Gratification

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) recently arraigned one Chika Benson before Justice Chukwu Ndukwe of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Kuje.

ICPC Prosecution counsel, Shehu Yahaya and Ibrahim Garba, in the charge sheet with Reference Number FCT/CR/194/2015 presented a six-count charge bordering on bribery and gratification.

Benson, a Medical Doctor who works with the National Women Development Center in Abuja, pleaded “not guilty” to all the counts.
He further applied for bail which was opposed by the prosecution on the grounds that the accused had earlier attempted to bribe the investigating officer.

Consequently, the accused was denied bail and ordered to be remanded in the Kuje Federal Prison by the trial judge.
The matter was then adjourned to September 28th, 2015 for commencement of trial.
