The British government has donated a vehicle to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to boost its fight against corruption.
Africa Regional Manager of the British Deputy High Commission in Lagos, Nicki Marrs, who presented the vehicle to ICPC’s South-West zonal office, Lagos, said that the British government was impressed with the role ICPC was playing to reduce corruption in Nigeria.
Marrs lauded the efforts of ICPC towards eradicating visa fraud, which has reduced their burden of dealing with many visa racketeers.
The vehicle presented was a Kia K2700 pick-up van, promising that another vehicle and other items including laptop computers and other high technology investigation equipment would be donated to the Commission in the near future.
Secretary to ICPC, Dr. Musa Abubakar who received the gift on behalf of the Commission commended the British government for supporting the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
Dr. Abubakar assured them that the vehicle would be effectively deployed by ICPC in its operations, adding that the British government had demonstrated that ridding Nigeria of corruption required the support of all and sundry.
