ICPC Arraigns Public Servant

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned a Public Servant before Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf of FCT High Court 5.

The officer identified as Barbara Osinachi Ekeocha, an Assistant Commandant with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was brought before the court on a 13-count charge.

The Prosecution Counsel Paul Ahmed Bassi Esq. told the court that the accused lied under oath to the Commissioner for Oaths, Federal Capital Territory Judiciary, Abuja, when she deposed on oath that she had no undeveloped plots whereas she has 13 plots of land in 13 different locations which include 4 plots at 4 different locations at the Civil Defence Estate, Lugbe and 9 plots of land located at 9 locations within the Civil Defence City, Rafin Karshi, Nasarawa State.

Her action is a violation of Section 25(1) (a) and punishable under Section 25(1) (b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

She pleaded not guilty to all the charges and the case has been adjourned till the 11th of November, 2014 for hearing.
