ICPC Plans National Youth Conference on Corruption

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission has concluded arrangements to hold a national youth conference on corruption.
The Resident Consultant, Media and Events of the ICPC, Mr. Folu Olamiti, said in a statement on Thursday that the commission planned the summit to enlist the participation of the youth, especially students of tertiary institutions in the campaign against corruption.
Olamiti quoted an executive member of the ICPC, Professor Olu Aina, as having made the comment while representing the Chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta, at a meeting with the senate of the National Association of Nigerian students, led by Mr. Tijani Usman.
He said the conference tagged, ‘Mobilising Nigerian Youth Against Corruption,’ and scheduled to hold from November 24, 2015 to November 25, 2015 would attract 700 participants from tertiary institutions across the country.
Olamiti said the 700 comprised 150 students from the universities, 100 from the polytechnics and 100 from colleges of education, while the rest would be drawn from youths outside the institutions.
He said the planned conference was the outcome of a just concluded Zonal Advisory Consultative Assembly on Corruption held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where the youths organisation demanded to be involved in the fight against graft.
Olatimi further quoted Aina as having expressed the hope that the conference would motivate the youth populace to embrace the fight against corruption in the country.

Sir, the proposed National Youth Conference on Corruption is a welcome development, this will put the youth on this same page with Mr. President’s fight against corruption. This will equip the Nigerian youth with the necessary Armour to help in combating corruption in the Country. Sir, i am having one challenge with this planned conference, i got a text massage from ICPC about the invitation but i was asked to go on ICPC website to complete the registration for the invitation. 15. It’s long over due. It’s time we start working the talk. We have talked much with little to show for it. Everyday same leaders are being prosecuted for graft and other related offenses. The only thing we are been taught by them is how to loot or creat leakages for stealing. Please I am highly interested if officially invited.

I finished recently from the same alma mata with at least two of the invited guest speakers and I am sure they are capable enough to do justice to the said course, this is because I have seen them do it before and I am convinced they can do it again. Seun Onigbinde and Japhet Omojuwa are proud products of FUNNAB, whom I am proud of.
