Hearing resumed in the case of an alleged N4million fraud involving Mohammed Alhassan Ndagi, an officer in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) before Justice Ajoke Adekoju, of the FCT High Court Wuse 2, Abuja.
The accused, Mohammed Ndagi of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) unit in the OAGF is alleged to have sometime in April 2013, forged a Federal Ministry of Defence staff identity card for one Miss Otu Elizabeth Banku with intent to fraudulently open a salary account with Garki Micro Finance Bank while she was not an employee of the Ministry.
He is also alleged to have paid a total sum of N4, 749,536.76(Four million Seven Hundred and Forty-Nine Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty-Six Naira Seventy-Six Kobo), into the bank account No- 0069352110 of Bantu with Garki Micro Finance Bank as arrears of salaries, when she was not a staff of the Federal Ministry of Defence, thereby contravening Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000.
At the hearing, the defense counsel, Baba Mohammed, did not appear in court. ICPC prosecution counsel, Mr. Adesola Michael, during the examination-in-chief, led the ICPC witness, Mijinyawa Ado, an officer with IPPIS in the office of the AGF to tender a form he was examined on as evidence ‘A12’ in the case against Ndagi. The witness could not be cross-examined because of the absence of Ndagi`s defense counsel.
The case has been adjourned to 6th February, 2017 for continuation of hearing.
