ICPC, Customs Partner on Anti-Graft War - By - posted on Wednesday 13th January 2010 The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC and the Nigeria Customs Service have pledged to work together to ensure effectively collect all revenues due to the Federal Government are remitted by the various individuals and organisations patronising entry and exit points in the country.
In a release by ICPC's Head, Public Enlightenment Dept. Mike Sowe, the two agencies agreed to collaborate in the training of staff and in the development of programmes that will instil integrity and accountability in their operations.
These agreements, according to the release, were reached at the end of a courtesy call by the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service Abdullahi Dikko Inde to the ICPC headquarters in Abuja. He told the ICPC that his Service has recovered nine billion naira since he took over as the CG and solicited for the support of ICPC in the training of 5000 staff recently recruited to enhance more efficient and effective performance by the Customs.
He commended the ICPC for having achieved so much even without making too much noise about the achievements. Inde emphasised that the Nigeria Customs Service has entered a new era of service with integrity, and warned that any officer found wanting would be kicked out of the Service.
