The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been commended by one Mrs. Sydney Igwealor Jephter, a business woman in Abuja, for facilitating the re-issuance of fresh land documents by the Gwagwalada Area Council to replace missing ones.
Mrs. Sydney had lodged her complaint through a petition to the Commission over missing documents for 10 plots of land worth N3million that she had purchased from one Hajiya Yerima with original Certificate of Occupancy.
According to her, she had given the original documents to Mr. Levi Omega a trusted long-term family friend who said that he knew a lawyer who could perfect Power of Attorney for the plots at the cost of N60, 000.
When Mr. Omega who had claimed to have misplaced the original land documents started avoiding her and was not picking her calls, the complainant suspected foul play and alerted ICPC.
During investigation, the Gwagwalada Zonal Land Coordinator, Mr. I. Douglas, revealed that Mr. Levi had actually lost the original documents; he had also placed a newspaper publication of a Notice of Misplacement.
Through the efforts of the operatives of the Commission, fresh land documents were issued to Mrs. Sydney by the Land Registry of Gwagwalada Area Council.
In a letter of appreciation, Mrs. Sydney lauded ICPC for the prompt and efficient manner it ensured that the issue was sorted out, as well as the kind assistance given to her.
“I humbly want to appreciate your kind personality, I pray for promotions and blessings on your part and in every of your endeavor,” Mrs. Sydney wrote.
