The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has charged students from Noble Guide Academy, Kubwa; Lightway Academy; and Glory International School, Karu, to uphold integrity, honesty and accountability and to always do what is right.
The charge was given by Mr Austin Osu, an Assistant Chief Superintendent in the Commission’s Public Education Department, during the ICPC Awareness Day programme held at Noble Guide Academy, Kubwa. The programme was themed “Building a Corruption-Free Generation: The Role of Students in Promoting Integrity.”
Speaking on the Commission’s history, mandate and functions, Mr Osu emphasised the importance of instilling integrity in young people from an early age. He said the ICPC recognises the value of “catching them young” in the fight against corruption, stressing that the foundation for a corruption-free society must be built with the younger generation.

He urged the students to make integrity a way of life by doing the right thing even when no one is watching. He also assured them that the Commission remains committed to raising a generation that rejects corruption and promotes accountability.
In his welcome address, the principal of the school, Mr Abdulfatah Bello, commended the ICPC for its efforts towards a corruption-free Nigeria. He stressed the importance of engaging young people early in the anti-corruption campaign, describing them as critical to the success of the fight against corruption.
Mr Bello encouraged the students to make the most of the engagement and to draw lessons that would guide their conduct and help them grow into responsible citizens who uphold integrity.
Other activities at the event included an essay-writing session, a presentation on “The Role of Young People in Fighting Corruption”, a Model United Nations (MUN) session and an anti-corruption quiz competition. The activities were designed to help students think critically about corruption and to practise honesty, teamwork and public speaking.
The programme ended with the presentation of gifts and certificates to the winners. The event formed part of the Commission’s broader public education drive to build a corruption-free generation through early values formation and active youth engagement.
