Following the launch of its 2024-2028 Strategic Action Plan (SAP) in October last year, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced staff training to ensure its effective implementation.
Declaring the training open on Monday, ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, emphasized that the initiative aims to strengthen the Commission’s efficiency, effectiveness, and impact in the fight against corruption.
“This training is designed to enhance our ability to combat corruption effectively. As we all know, fighting corruption is not just a duty but a necessity for national development,” he stated.
Dr. Aliyu highlighted the importance of a deliberate, strategic, and dedicated approach, noting that the Strategic Action Plan serves as a roadmap for driving ICPC’s policies, programs, and enforcement efforts.
He further stressed that every staff member must fully understand and be equipped to implement the plan effectively.
“We must work in synergy to achieve the Commission’s broader objectives. By improving internal efficiency, we will also strengthen public trust in our ability to tackle corruption effectively. I urge all participants to engage fully in this training, as the knowledge gained will ensure that our actions remain strategic and impactful.”
Speaking earlier, Mr. Godwin Oche, ICPC’s Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, described the Strategic Action Plan as a guiding framework that defines the Commission’s vision, outlines its objectives, and identifies key actions for achieving its goals.
“This training will provide a deep dive into the plan, detailing its components, clarifying our roles and responsibilities, and ensuring its practical implementation. Our goal is not just to share information but to engage meaningfully so that by the end of this training, we can simplify the plan, align strategic objectives with ICPC’s mission, and establish clear performance indicators to measure success,” he explained.
The training covers critical areas such as strategic objectives, timelines, stakeholder engagement, expected outcomes, and performance assessment to effectively implement the 2024-2028 Strategic Action Plan.
