The Sokoto State office of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has conferred Certificates of Participation upon the outgoing Batch B1 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Anti-Corruption Community Development Service (CDS) Group, in a ceremony designed to both celebrate their service and fortify their resolve as lifelong champions of probity.
The event, which took place recently, served as a dual-purpose platform: a sensitisation session and a valedictory recognition programme, drawing a total of 36 participants to the state capital.
Presiding over the occasion, Deputy Superintendent Abdullahi Ibrahim Aliyu, who represented the ICPCÂ Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC), lauded the outgoing corps members for their unwavering dedication to the anti-graft crusade throughout their service tenure. In a stirring address, he charged the departing stewards of integrity to carry forward the ethical compass cultivated during their CDS engagement, urging them to act as beacons of transparency in their subsequent endeavours.
“The fight against corruption does not conclude with the end of your service year,” Mr Aliyu asserted. “It is a collective, lifelong endeavour that demands vigilance from every citizen, irrespective of profession or status. You must remain worthy ambassadors of integrity, for the nation looks to its youth to model the values we seek to entrench.
In a strategic pivot towards continuity, the ICPC representative challenged the current crop of Anti-Corruption CDG members to intensify grassroots engagement, emphasising the critical need for sustained public education on the pernicious effects of graft. He underscored the Commission’s reliance on youth-led advocacy to demystify corruption and propagate the virtues of accountability, ethical leadership, and civic responsibility across communities.
The high point of the programme witnessed the formal presentation of Certificates of Participation to the outgoing corps members; a gesture acknowledging their tangible contributions to advancing the ICPC’s mandate during their national service. The certificates, symbolic of both appreciation and expectation, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to nurturing a generation of corruption-free leaders.
The ceremony drew to a close with a commemorative group photograph, capturing the spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose that has come to define the Sokoto State Anti-Corruption CDS Group.
The event stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the ICPC and the NYSC in cultivating a culture of integrity from the grassroots upward, a partnership that continues to bear fruit in the character of Nigeria’s emerging leaders.
