ICPC Trains Officers on Digital Public Financial Management

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu SAN, has urged officers undergoing training on digital public financial management to maximize the opportunity to combat financial fraud.

Speaking through the Commission’s Secretary, Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Okparaodu (DSSRS), Dr. Aliyu made this call at the opening ceremony of a three-day intensive training held at the ICPC Headquarters in Abuja.

He emphasized that the program was designed to equip officers with the technical expertise needed to address inefficiencies in financial management.

“The core objective of this capacity-building exercise is to enhance the skills of officers in selected departments and units, enabling them to perform their duties with greater proficiency and efficiency,” he stated.

Dr. Aliyu reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to continuous staff training, re-training, and capacity development as a fundamental part of its operations.

The ICPC boss, while highlighting the emergence of new systems, platforms, and software that leverage Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to advance financial management, stressed the need for participants to take full advantage of the training to enhance their knowledge and performance.

Also speaking at the event, ICPC’s Head of Audit Unit, Mr. Ambrose Songo, noted that the training was initiated in response to the evolving landscape of financial management globally.

“Officers must stay updated on the dynamic nature of digital processes in public financial management. This will equip them with the necessary skills for their daily responsibilities,” he said.

The training covered topics such as an overview of Nigerian financial regulations, public financial management reforms—challenges and prospects, and promoting transparency and accountability through the Open Treasury Portal.

Over 100 officers from ICPC headquarters and state offices participated in the program.
