The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offencesv Commission (ICPC) has been honoured with the International Protocol and Travel Facilitation (IPTF) Ethical Conduct Award 2026, in recognition of its exemplary representation of ethical law enforcement and its outstanding contribution to the advancement of protocol, orderliness and excellent conduct in official engagements.
The award was presented recently during a five-day International Protocol and Travel Facilitation Training held at the NIGAV Centre, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos. The training, organised by the Council of Protocol Professionals and Diplomats (CPPD), drew participants from federal government agencies and private organisations, all of whom were assessed on professionalism, discipline and proper conduct throughout the programme.
According to the organisers, the ICPC stood out for its exceptional display of integrity, decorum and commitment to best practice, qualities that earned it the coveted recognition. Other distinguished participants from federal agencies and private organisations were also presented with awards for their exemplary conduct during the course of the training.
The five-day programme covered a wide range of thematic areas, including cross-cultural protocol, visitor management, delegation coordination and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in protocol services. Participants were exposed to practical approaches for receiving visitors professionally, coordinating official engagements, respecting cultural differences and enhancing service delivery through technology.
Particular emphasis was placed on data privacy, cultural sensitivity, human oversight and accountability in the deployment of AI tools. The training underscored the need for public officers to receive visitors and petitioners courteously, coordinate official engagements effectively and apply technology responsibly, without compromising confidential information or professional judgment.
For the ICPC, an institution statutorily mandated to prevent and combat corruption, the award serves as a powerful affirmation of the Commission’s unwavering commitment to ethical standards, accountability and responsible public service. It also reflects the Commission’s sustained efforts to entrench a culture of integrity and professionalism among its officers.
In view of the recognition and the lessons drawn from the training, it has been recommended that the award be formally presented to the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC), Lagos State Office, for acknowledgement and onward communication to the Chairman of the Commission.
The presentation of the IPTF Ethical Conduct Award 2026 to the ICPC is a commendable recognition of the officers’ professional conduct and their worthy representation of the Commission. It provided a valuable opportunity to further reinforce the core values of integrity, accountability, discipline and professionalism that underpin the Commission’s mandate.
