ICPC KANO OFFICE ATTENDS ONE-DAY WORKSHOP FOR JUNIOR STAFF OF THE AMINU KANO TEACHING HOSPITAL (AKTH), KANO

The Anti-Corruption Monitoring Unit (ACTU) of the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) recently organized a workshop on corruption for their junior staff which was attended by the Head of the Kano State office of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Barrister Sabi’u Iliyasu, who was represented by Mr. Suleiman Muhammed Maishanu.

The workshop which centered on corruption in the workplace, sought to educate the junior staff of the hospital on the impact of corruption in the working environment, especially in the public health sector.

In a paper at the occasion titled “Causes and Consequences of Bribery and Corruption and It’s Remedies”, Mr. Umar Madu Bah highlighted  several issues, starting with a brief history of the anti-corruption bill, the structure of the Commission, work ethics and ways to remedy the menace of corruption in our health institutions. He further explained relevant sections and penalties on issues relating to corruption within such an organization in accordance with the ICPC Act 2000.

In his own remarks, the representative of the Head of the Kano State office of the Commission, Mr. Suleiman Muhammed Maishanu urged participants to be patriotic in their duties and to report any case of corruption to the AKTH ACTU or any other office of the Commission.

In conclusion, Mr. Adamu Aliyu, the Assistant Director General Services, thanked the ICPC, the resource persons, and all the participants at the occasion for attending the event.
