The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been honoured with the award of “Corporate Agency of Excellence” by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Speaking on Thursday at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja during the Presidential Dinner and Award Ceremony, Dr Rotimi Oladele; President of NIPR stated that ICPC was chosen after a very careful consideration of how the anti-graft agency conducts its operations with zero tolerance for corruption, yet with respect for the rule of law. He urged all Nigerians and foreigners alike to support ICPC as it is a responsible agency deserving of encouragement. He further stated that ICPC and other award-recipients were being honoured in recognition of their contributions to the development of the nation, and that it was time Nigerians honoured those who were deserving of acknowledgement.
The Chairman of ICPC, Mr Ekpo Nta in a goodwill message after receiving the award expressed surprise that ICPC and indeed any anti-corruption agency could be picked out for awards considering the nature of its operations, especially at times like this. Ekpo Nta thanked NIPR for the gesture and posited that Public Relations practice and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations play a key role in the development of Nigeria and the repositioning of her image as a responsible country with very good citizens. He pledged that ICPC would continue to discharge its duty credibly while nurturing strategic partnerships with institutions such as the NIPR.
