We Are Interested in Building Institutional Capacities – ICPC Chairman

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mr. Ekpo Nta, has reiterated the Commission’s commitment in building institutional capacities to reduce system-prone corruption.

Mr. Nta made this known while welcoming some management staff of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc (NSPM) who paid him a courtesy visit at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The ICPC boss maintained that the Commission, in line with its preventive mandate, was not into demonising any organisation but rather looking into systems and procedures aimed at offering advice on how to curb the loopholes in such systems.

He expressed optimism on the relationship between the Commission and NSPM while describing the latter as “a very strong arm of warfare against corruption”.

Mr. Nta also proposed to the management team of NSPM to expand their scope to checkmate the indiscriminate printing of certificates especially Medical Leave Certificates, saying that some fraudulent persons usually cause the country a lot of embarrassment in foreign lands whenever they present fake ones.

In his remarks, the MD/CEO, NSPM, Mr. Joseph Ugbo, expressed hope for a sustained relationship with the Commission.

Although the MD noted that the duty of NSPM as a production company ends at production, he explained that with the upgrades of the security features of documents, it could help check the activities of those engaged in printing fake documents.
