A Kwara State High Court sitting in Illorin, presided by the Chief Judge of the State Justice Bamgbola J has sentenced the Director of Works, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, Mr Iliya Philemon Hassan to three months imprisonment.
Hassan was arraigned by the ICPC in 2009 on a three count charge bordering on making false statements to the Registrar of the polytechnic and officials of the ICPC thereby committing an offence contrary and punishable under section 25 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000.
The accused falsely claimed in his curriculum vitae submitted to the Registrar of the said polytechnic and in his statement before ICPC officials that he possesses a Masters Degree in Building Construction Technology from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
The court also ruled that the term of imprisonment shall run concurrently with a cumulative fine of N50,000 on each count. The convict has since been moved to madala prison in Illorin , Kwara State.
