The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has arraigned one Anthony Mbanefo before Tambuwal Judicial Division of the Sokoto State High Court in Bodinga.
Mbanefo, who is a Senior Technical Officer with the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), was docked before Justice Bello Duwale on a 4-count charge for “knowingly holding private interest in a contract award connected to FERMA, and conferring corrupt advantage upon himself.”
The accused is alleged to have executed a contract awarded by the agency where he works, using another company.
In a charge number: SS/14c/2016, prosecution counsel to ICPC, Sulaiman Abdulkarim Esq and Mashkur Salisu Esq averred that the action of the accused person violates Sections 12 and 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and is punishable under the same sections.
The accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against him, and the team of defence counsel comprising Ibrahim Abdullahi Esq, A.B. Liman Esq et al prayed the court to grant him bail. The court granted him bail in the sum of ₦100m (One Hundred Million Naira) and one surety in like sum, who must have a landed property anywhere in Nigeria and must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
The case was adjourned to 7th September, 2016 for further hearing.
