As hearing continued in the trial of a staff of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Abuja, Mr.Pius Omosehwofa, who was charged to court by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for abuse of office and conferring undue advantage upon himself, the accused person has denied the allegations preferred against him.
The Commission had filed a 2-count charge against Omosehwofa at the Federal Capital Territory High Court 4, Maitama before Justice Hussaini Baba Yusuf.
In the charge sheet, Mr. Omosehwofa is accused of being a Director and shareholder in a private company known as Multi –link Computer System Limited while also working as a Computer Analyst with NCCE. He is accused of having influenced the award of a contract by NCCE to Multi-link Computer for the repair of obsolete computers which contravenes the provision of Section 12 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
Omosehwofa is also charged with contravening Section 19 of the same Act for recommending to NCCE to award computer repairs to Multi-link Company at the rate of N847, 537, 19, thereby conferring corrupt advantage upon himself.
In his defence, the accused denied being a Director and Shareholder of the company, insisting that he had relinquished his shares, and resigned as a Director from that company since 2002 before the offence was purported to have been committed.
The judge, however, adjourned the matter to 28th July, 2017 for continuation of defence.
