The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission has arrested the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Dr Dapo Sotiloye, and three top officials of the hospital over alleged embezzlement of N88m.
Other officials include the Head of Accounts, Mr. E.A. Adeleke, Head of Administration, Mr. O. A. Oyeku and Head of Works, one Mr. Owolabi.
Operatives of the anti-graft commission from Abuja had on Monday stormed the hospital to serve the affected officials with summon letters to appear on Tuesday (yesterday) at the state office of State Security Service.
THE PUNCH learnt the arrest of Sotiloye and others was in connection with alleged embezzlement of N88m meant for the 2010 housing allowance of the hospital staff in contravention of the ICPC Act 2000.
It was learnt that the ICPC acted on petitions received from staff of the hospital. The arrested officials were still said to be undergoing interrogation after several hours of making “useful statements as at press time on Tuesday.”
The Public Relations Officer, FMC, Abeokuta, Mr. Segun Orisajo, declined comment but said the management would issue a statement at the appropriate time.
